Overview

Birmingham City University is a Birmingham, England college. Originally founded as the Birmingham College of Art with origins dating back to 1843, in 1971 it was designated as a polytechnic and in 1992 it received university status.

The university has three main campuses serving four faculties, offering courses in art and design, business, built environment, computing, education, engineering, English, healthcare, law, performing arts, social sciences, and technology. An extension of £125 million to its campus in Birmingham city centre, part of the Eastside growth of a fresh technology and teaching area, is opening in two phases, with the opening of the first stage in 2013.
